Project DULCE (Developmental Understanding and Legal Collaboration for Everyone)
First 5 Alameda County funds Project DULCE, which addresses social determinants of health and promotes the healthy development of infants from birth to six months at Highland Hospital’s Pediatric Department. A partnership with East Bay Community Law Center, the pilot is one of the Center for the Study of Social Policy’s 10 sites nationally.
DULCE adds a family specialist to the pediatric care team to support families by connecting them to home visits, legal consultation and resources that support healthy child development,
Program components:
- STRENGTHEN families by providing extra support during the critical first six months of life
- EDUCATE parents on child development, answer development and behavioral questions
- CONNECT families to legal support in partnership with the East Bay Community Law Center
- PROVIDE home visits and telephone check-ins for families that want them
